I'm at the airport about to board a flight when my phone rings and my friends at New Balance ask me to shoot their Spring/Summer 2016 campaign right here in Boulder.
I'm put in touch with the shoot producer and I quickly text my friend and go-to assistant Josh to begin scouting, permitting and searching for talent. We are off and running.
After a few days and numerous emails and phone calls, we nail down the dates, locations and crew, coordinate with the athletes and models and finalize the deliverables and budget.
That first morning we all meet in the hotel conference room that would serve as our home base - producer, stylist, wardrobe, New Balance marketing and creative teams plus myself and Josh who will be my second shooter. The gear is prepped, the MoHo is out front and we are ready to rock.
From the first run though we are in the creative flow and full-on crushing with Olympians and elite runners like Jenny Simpson, Emma Coburn and Brenda Martinez.
Overall we shoot 3 athletes and 4 models in 14 locations over 4 days. We take over 15,000 images. That's hustle.
The shoot wraps on a Thursday and after a few celebratory beers we begin the edit with the goal to ship a finished hard drive that Monday.
